ABOUT THE FILM
As night falls at Spookers, dozens of seemingly ordinary people become freaks, zombies and chainsaw-wielding clowns. Every weekend come rain, hail or shine, this diverse group of amateur performers unite to terrify punters at the southern hemisphere’s largest scream park, situated in a former psychiatric hospital. Director Florian Habicht reveals the transformative and paradoxically lifesaving power of belonging to a community that celebrates fear.
REVIEWS
“Spookers is another uniquely Kiwi gem from Habicht, a documentary that delves underneath the bloody makeup to show a whānau with real heart. And you’ll never laugh so much at something so frightening.”- THE 13TH FLOOR

★★★★★ “Spookers is hilarious, heartbreaking, exciting, frightening and important. This is what cinema is about – telling stories that you didn’t know existed, and subverting what the traditional narrative of those stories would usually be. In a year of truly great documentaries, Spookers manages to shock its way to the top of my pile.” -AB Film Review
